Learn what Motivates your Team
 
 

Experienced leaders know that the best way to manage a team is to determine what motivates their employees and to act on that. In her book Fun and Gains, Carolyn Greenwich has created a methodology to assist developing leaders understand the motivation of their team members. The acronym WISE is used for the four areas of motivation.

W What's in it for me? (What do they need from their leader to feel valued?)

I Involvement (What involvement will gain their commitment to excellence?)

S Simplify (How can leaders simplify process and procedures to achieve a better outcome?)

E Energize (How can leaders energize the office on a continual basis?)

For each of these categories, ask your team to discuss ways to get the best out of each member and the team as a whole.
