Building A Stronger Team Through Increased Communications!

In order for employees to feel a sense of enthusiasm and accountability for their work, it is important that they have ample opportunity to provide input and feedback to their manager and are kept well informed of the organization's overall goals. Unfortunately however, there is often not enough time in the day for managers to accomplish this objective to the extent that they would like. Tight schedules, increased workloads, and deadlines often get in the way of one's ability to communicate frequently and effectively with team members. Below are some practical suggestions for increasing communications within your organization and creating a stronger team environment:

  • Conduct quarterly Town Halls that provide all employees with a chance to hear the organization's message at the same time.
  • Schedule 'one-on-one" meetings with team members to discuss career aspirations, problems and concerns, and gather feedback. Waiting until employee review time for this opportunity will likely yield limited information.
  • Conduct employee communication meetings that are similar to round table discussions.Order a couple of pizzas and keep it informal. This will help to generate more open and honest dialogue.
  • Circulate employee surveys that address the foundations of your internal workings as a company.
  • Write up a company newsletter.
